The Sports Report
By: AthletesKnee

The most common cause of an athelete missing a game or part of a season is an injury. Atheletes work their bodies harder than anyone else and, as such, are injured far more often. This blog has the latest report on injured athletes--what took them out of the game, what does this injury mean, and how long is the expected recovery time?

  • Oklahoma City Thunder Guard Russell Westbrook Expected Ready to Start Season
Russell Westbrook was out for the remainder of last season after tearing his lateral meniscus on April 25's game against the Houston Rockets. He had surgery to repair the meniscus at the end of April. Since then it's been uncertain whether he was going to be back in action by start of this year's season. Teammate Kevin Durant told reporters at a Nike and Foot Locker event in Spain that he expected Westbrook to be ready by the start of a season. Certainly not an official release, but a good sign! And considering that the typical recovery time after a meniscus repair surgery is 4 months, a reasonable prognosis.
