Worried about your injured knees? Here are a few ways to avoid further injury:

- Wear the right safety gear and footwear. Make sure to use braces for your knees and ankles.

- Don't push through the pain. If it's bad, slow down or stop altogether. It's the best way to prevent making the injury worse.

- Always check to ensure the padding and flooring is securely in place and even. When doing gymnastics, a small twist can lead to a painfully wrenched knee.

- Learn new skills slowly.

- Always warm up and cool down.
