Which type of board is less likely to cause injuries: long or short boards?

I know a lot of short boarders have injuries, but they come from trauma rather than overuse. All those ollies, kickflips, and other tricks can be hard on the knees, and I know most knees can take quite a brutal beating on those stair jumps - and that's just the ones that they land.

With long boarding, there's a lot less impact, but there's a consistent strain on the knees. There's much more leaning forward and backwards, so the knees are more likely to develop problems like tendonitis.

Which do you think is better for your knees?
