Jets’ Wide Receiver Sidelined

Jets’ Wide Receiver Sidelined

August 03, 2001   By Sheila Dwyer, Knee1 Staff

Wide receiver Santana Moss of the New York Jets is expected to be out of commission for a month due to a knee injury.

Moss, the 16th overall draft pick in April, tore cartilage in his right knee while making a cut at the football team’s practice on Wednesday. He actually took to the field on Thursday before he realized his injury. He was expected to undergo testing on his knee on Friday.

On Saturday, July 28th, Moss signed a five-year, $7 million deal with the Jets. He was previously a star wide receiver at the University of Miami, where he was the school’s all-time career yardage leader with 2,546. The five-foot, nine-inch moss finished seventh in Heisman Trophy balloting.
